Baiyashan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Western Fujian. In 1972 the Fujian Regional Geological Survey Team erected the Baiyashan Group of which the type section is located at Baiyashan to the east of Julan Village of Dabu Township of the Taining County, Fujian Province. It was renamed the Baiyashan Formation during the stratigraphic sorting of Fujian.
Lithology and Thickness
The Baiyashan Formation is represented by a set of purple red volcanic-sedimentary rock series and can be roughly divided into two parts. Lower part is represented by purple red conglomerate and sandstone with siltstone, with a thickness ranging from several to more than 200 m. Upper part is mostly dominated by purple red acidic lava, with a gradual increase in the amount of alkaline trachyte from southwest to northeast of Ninghua, Taining, Jianning and Pucheng, with thickness decreased (1839.5-1206-200 m) accordingly.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Baiyashan Formation of the acidic rock assemblage is overlying the Bantou Fm or JishanFujian Fm.
Upper contact
Underlying the Junkou Fm in the Ninghua area
